1907 Born in Spy (Namur), Belgium. 1921 Came to Canada. 1923-28 Studied art at the Ottawa Art Association. 1923-45 Worked as an engraver. 1934 Commenced painting professionally. 1938 One-man show, Picture Loan Society, Toronto. 1939 One-man show, Le Caveau, Ottawa. Exhibited at World Fair, New York. 1941 One-man show, L'Art Français, Montreal. 1942 One-man show, Contempo Studios, Ottawa. Exhibited at "Aspects of Contemporary Painting in Canada", Andover, Mass. 1943 One-man show, Laing Art Gallery, Toronto. 1944 Exhibited at International Water Colour Exhibition, Brooklyn. 1945 One-man show, Eaton's College Art Gallery, Toronto. 1945-46 Exhibited at Biennale, Rio de Janeiro. 1945 Commenced working as a "full-time painter". 1946 One-man show, Robertson Galleries, Ottawa. Exhibited with UNESCO, Paris. 1947 Exhibited with "Six Canadian Painters", West Palm Beach, Florida. 1948 Taught art at children's classes, National Gallery of Canada, Elmwood School, Ashbury College and Summer School. Taught at Queen's University, Kingston, until 1952. 1950 Exhibited in "Canadian Painting", National Gallery of Arts, Washington, D.C. Two-man show, London Art Museum (with Harold Town). 1951 Exhibited at Biennale, Sao Paulo. 1952 One-man show, L'Atelier, Quebec City. 1953 Exhibited at Colombo International Exhibition of Modern Art, New Delhi. 1954 Taught art at Banff School of Fine Arts. One-man show, Gallery of Canadian Art, Calgary. 1955 Received LL.D. from Assumption College, Windsor, Ontario. 1960-63 Taught art at Doon School of Fine Arts (summer). 1964 One-man show, Walter Klinkhoff Gallery, Montreal. 1965 "Quebec in Revolt" - Series of studies of Quebec for Fortune Magazine. 1967 One-man show, Art Lenders, Montreal.
